Mason and I; Baseball Grips

Posted in Baseball on August 25, 2008 by Ty

Yay! Mason and I have been hanging out and playing ball (baseball) a lot more lately. I am not on my computer very much at all. It feels good and I am getting a lot better at baseball. It is also fun… so yay! We finished the season a couple of days ago and our record was 4 wins and 8 loses. :-\, not bad for our first time right? And the other team cheated… so whatever. I have a bunch of pitches and will tell you how to throw them… here they are:

FOR RIGHT HANDED PEOPLE!

(Sorry if you are left-handed, I am not so I don’t know how to throw with my left hand, obviously.)

4-Seam Fastball: (Click here for the picture of the grip.) This is a steady pitch that has a backspin (a normal spin for baseball) and doesn’t have another spin. This is thrown with a stiff wrist (no wrist movement just straight).

2-Seam Fastball: (Click here for the picture of the grip.) This is thrown the same way as a 4-Seam Fastball, but has an awkward spin that is less consistent for a regular backspin compared to a 4-Seam Fastball.

Sinker (MY FASTEST PITCH!!!): (Click here for the picture of the grip. This is how I throw a sinker… so there were no pictures. Just throw put two fingers across those two seams.) This has a really heavy backspin, making it sink down. THE MORE SPIN ON A BALL, THE FASTER IT GOES!!!

Change-up: (Click here for the picture of the grip.) Throw this pitch slower than a fastball. This has a backspin and is an off-speed pitch, that was thought up to screw up a batter after a few Fastballs!

Slider: (Click here for the picture of the grip. This is how I throw a slider… so there were no pictures. Put your fingers on the outside of the red horseshoe seams.) This is like a slow Sinker… kind of like the Sinker Change-up. Yeah, that is what I think a slider is… not sure. This slips a lot if not thrown correctly.

Curveball: (Click here for the picture of the grip.) Curves to the right… a spin that goes to the right or often up, then down and to the right.

Screwball: (Click here for the picture of the grip. This is how I throw a Screwball. You have to curve your hand in. It is hard and it hurts.) Curves to the left. The spin goes to the left. You have to twist your wrist the opposite way of the curveball and it kind of hurts.

Pomball: (Click here for the picture of the grip. This isn’t really a real pitch, just a little league thing. Hold across these horseshoe seams in the palm of your hand.) Drops and doesn’t have much spin. Kind of weird to throw and is hard to throw fast. It is an off-speed pitch so don’t try to throw it fast.

I would tell you how to throw a knuckleball, but I can’t throw it. Mason does though, and he is REALLY good at it. So yeah, sorry I haven’t been posting lately, and I will try to post more often. Thanks, bye-bye!

NOT FOR THE NUMBER, BUT FOR THE REACTION!

P.S.: I throw side-arm (and three-quarters) a lot so the effects will be different from a person who throws overhead. OH! And I put like an hour into this…

Sorry…; MORE Baseball

Posted in Baseball, Randomness, Opinions and/or School on August 20, 2008 by Ty

Sorry I haven’t been posting as much lately. I am really busy with Ceramics Class, French Class and Summer Baseball. I will try to post every day again, but my life is more important to me than this blog. Sorry, and I hope you understand… You do understand, don’t you?

I am pretty shaken up. We won our baseball game 4-2 (the second win in a row and now we are 4 wins and 7 loses), but something happened. First I will tell you how I did: Crappy. That explains everything. I grounded out twice and struck-out once. It gets tiring, not being on base. But I am the lead-off hitter, so I know my coach has faith in me and I appreciate that. If he thought I was doing really bad, I would be taken out of the lead-off position. I played Centerfielder, but nothing came to me.

The thing that happened is pretty debatable, you know, to talk about. It is kind of gruesome and I’m not sure if the victim would appreciate me writing this. So, I won’t go into much detail. Alright, so there was a kid who pitches 70 MPH on an average. There was a guy on first base. The first basemen wanted the ball. So he went to the base to be ready for the attempted pick-off throw. The pitcher threw it… and the first basemen got hurt. The throw was high. It was about to the first basemen’s head. He reached up with this glove hand to catch it, but missed. The ball traveled at least 65 MPH, if not more, to his head. It hit the rim of his have and then got his face. He fell down and started screaming. It was horrible. Let’s just say, there was some blood and he needs stitches. Now I have to go eat dinner. I feel really sorry for him. It was such a fluke and when these things happen, you wonder “Why me? What did I do.” It is a question that will never be answered. Ever.

Food Show!!!

Posted in Activities, Randomness, Opinions and/or School on August 17, 2008 by Ty

Hey everybody! The food show was great! Well, the food was not all that good… but the show was O.K. My grandma got hit with a cupcake when Duff was hitting cupcakes with his hockey stick. Oh yeah, did I mention Duff was there?!?!?!?! And Mary Alice and Geof. SO EXCITING!!! Duff was really laid back and you could tell he really actually wanted to be there. Same with Mary Alice but Geof… well, maybe he is just quiet. He didn’t say much at all but it was still really cool to see him… and them all. Later last night, I went to a barbecue. It was fun. So yeah that is pretty much it… C YA EVERY1!

Wow; More Baseball (Only, Interesting)

Posted in Baseball, Randomness, Opinions and/or School on August 15, 2008 by Ty

Wow! I haven’t played Sims 2 or the Wii or games you have to buy in a long time! I don’t really know why I am writing this post, but I don’t have any ideas… literally, it took me 10 minutes to think of this!

OH! I HAVE A GREAT IDEA! I will tell you about my baseball game!

So this game I went 1 for 4, which is really bad. I am holding my lead-off hitter position (lead-off hitter: the first batter). I grounded out twice and struck out (looking :’) ) once… but it was on a really nasty curveball that was inside and a bit high, and it curved to the plate. Anyway, it was back and forth all game and it was nerve-wracking, but also fun. It wasn’t a runaway game (in their favor) like the rest. So it is the seventh a.k.a. the last inning and we are the home team. It is like 6 to 8 and they are in the lead. (Like I said, it was back and forth all game and they had the lead about half the time and we had the lead about half the time.) Here is when I needed a hit… bigtime!

So I was on deck (a.k.a. second in the order) and there was a really good pitcher up. He had like there pitches: Fastball (about 65 MPH), Curveball (probably like 55 MPH (he didn’t give me a curveball)), and a Screwball (the spin is brutal and it messes you up; opposite from a curveball; and probably about 60 MPH). The person ahead of me in the order hit, what I think to be, a double. I forgot. So then I was up. (Oops! Forgot to tell you all that this pitcher was kinda wild but got it in the zone more than some…) There were 2 balls and two strikes, I think (but I am sure there were 2 strikes: one hard hit-ball that went foul ball and a run-of-the-mill, swing-and-a-miss strike). The next pitch was low and outside, but still, a legitimate strike… and I swung…

… and I am so glad I did! I hit the ball just outside the infield on a fly and over the secondbasemen’s head. The batter before me scored somehow and I was on first. They changed the pitcher and then I stole second. The person after me in the batting order grounded out but moved me to third. There, I had an advantage: the pitcher was a lefty. This means I could see whether he was going to try to pick me off faster than if he were a righty. (Leftys have there back to third when they are pitching, meaning you can see there every move… Mwahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!) He tried to pick me off a few times and so did the catcher, but I stayed on third base. The next hitter walked, I think and then stole second. The next one after him walked and then the one after him hit a pop-up in the infield for an infield fly rule. But he scored me… the game was now 8-8. There was a runner on third now and Mason was up. Mason took a couple swings and then had 2 strikes and maybe some balls, I don’t know. But mason hit it hard and ran out the ground ball and the runner on third scored! WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our coach went berserk with happiness. We all jumped around, congratulating Mason and the runner who scored the winning run. We also game the game ball to a player who did well the whole game. (He was the one who hit the pop-up in the infield.) Well, that is all and I have to eat breakfast. C ya everybody!!!

Yet Again…

Posted in Activities on August 14, 2008 by Ty

lol. You know how I sometimes go to a place where the Kings practice to go ice skating? Well, I have gone a few times and I sometimes find hockey pucks around the place… so I take them. They are kinda beat up and people leave them there intentionally, so I just take them. I don’t think it is stealing but I am just taking what people don’t want. Is that so bad? I don’t think so… yeah. I got a Kings 40th Anniversary puck and a regular NHL Center Ice Puck. Well, bye-bye!

Wow-o-wow

Posted in Baseball on August 13, 2008 by Ty

Well that was embarrassing. Well, yet another baseball game lost. This time they got uniforms for the borrowed players so it didn’t look like they were cheating. So I got 2 walks and a groundout. I also played centerfield and a bit of right. I was at second base and I spaced out for a second and then the pitcher threw the ball… I was out but it was very interesting.

So I was at second, right? Well, I spaced out for half a second and they threw it. I was diving back but on the turn back to the base, I slipped out of the baseline and dove to the base. I ended up being 4 inches from the base and I flipped over. VERY SAD. We lost by like nine. We only have one 2 games I think. Whatever… they cheat. C ya everyone!
